We understand illness and injuries don’t always occur during the normal 8-5 hours. We are excited to offer something NEW and needed for our community! We also offer wellness visits from newborn to adolescence, as well as routine sports physicals and vaccinations.

Kayla D. Thurman, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC

Kayla is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and owner of Ole Brook Kids, P.C. She has over 11 years of pediatric experience including pediatric intensive care, pediatric emergency medicine and pediatric primary care. She received her BSN from University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2012 and started her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). She went on and received her MSN as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from University of Alabama Birmingham in 2015 and is Board Certified with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Kayla has gained years of invaluable pediatric experience as a PICU nurse and a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Pediatric Emergency Department at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital. During the past 11 years of her career, she has continued to practice with passion and pride, dedicated to the pediatric population of Mississippi. With that passion and dedication, Kayla began to see ways to make the local community better, offering something new and needed for working families, understanding sickness doesn’t always happen during the normal 8-5 hours. She is excited for Ole Brook Kids, Pediatric Urgent and Wellness.

She and her husband Dillon have 3 children, Kinley, John Luke and Fisher. They are active locally in the community and are active members with their local church, Grace Life Church of Brookhaven. Kayla enjoys watching her children’s local activities and spending time with extended family.

Amber N. Martin, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC

Amber is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and owner of Ole Brook Kids, P.C. She has over 24 years of pediatric experience including neonatal intensive care, newborn nursery, labor and delivery, postpartum, and pediatric primary care. She graduated with her BSN from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1999 and began her career working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at University of Mississippi Medical Center. In 2012 Amber continued her education by earning her MSN from The University of South Alabama and is Board Certified with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is an active member of the American association of Nurse Practitioners.

In addition to serving her local community as a primary care provider, Amber also is an adjunct teacher for Mississippi College nursing program. She teaches several courses in the RN to BSN program as well as the MSN program.

Amber started her nursing career working in the NICU at UMMC in Jackson, MS where she gained a foundation for pediatric medicine, taking care of tiniest and sickest pediatric patients. In her practice today, you can find Amber loving on newborns like they were her own. Her last 10+ years have been as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care locally where she continues to grow her practice with passion and empathy.

Amber is married to Brad Martin. They have been married for 25 years and have three children, Makayla, Mallory, and Maddox. The children have kept them busy in local activities and sports with two children playing soccer at the collegiate level. They are active members at Calvary Baptist Church. They have lived in Lincoln county for 19 years and enjoy being active in the community.

Darren T. Scoggin, MD

Dr. Scoggin is a native of Ellisville, MS. He attended Jones County Junior College and completed undergraduate education at The University of Southern Mississippi. He attended medical school at The University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he also completed pediatric residency. Dr. Scoggin enjoys building relationships with his families and being a partner with parents in taking care of their children.

Dr. Scoggin is married to his high school sweetheart, Sarah, and they have three incredible children (two daughters and one son). Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, playing piano, and being involved at his church where he serves leading worship.
